Snow and Trail Conditions at Crane Lake

February 5, 2008

Warmer days and cool nights are keeping our trails in check.  We received a couple of inches yesterday.  Fresh snow keeps the slides lubed and engines cool.  Riders are praising the conditions and the groomer drivers ability to keep the trails in great shape.  Spoke with two riders yesterday that said the trails are in great shape and they had re-booked for next week!!  Ice surface grooming began last week from Crane to Namakan and should continue on the North end of the trail system.

Bitter cold is now passed high today suppose to be 18.  Snow conditions remain excellent!!!  Groomers are out thee times a week and all lake trails are in good shape.  The Crane Lake club is checking the lake again this week and should be grooming the lake surface as well.  The area business's are open 7 days a week waiting to serve you with warm beds, smiles and hot coffee.  We are forecasted to get some fresh snow again this week!

Great news!!!  VNP has now staked the lake trail system from the Ash River to Crane Lake!  This means that all lake trails are open and staked trails are safe trails. You can now ride several hundred miles of trails with out seeing the same trail twice. The recent warm up and re-freeze has made the base to our land trails very firm, so they are holding very well.  Sunday and Monday produced 2-3 inches of fresh snow for great lubrication on the hard pack.  We are grooming 3 times a week so our trails are really top notch.  Snow in the woods measures up to 24".  Riders are saying it is the best it has been in years! Our winter resorts are ready to serve you!  Take advantage of the long weekend and give us a call!

Fantastic!!!  VNP has staked the lake trail system from Rainy Lake to Lake Kabetogama!!!  They continued checking ice last week and will check again this week and are expected to stake from the Ash River Community to Crane Lake!  That means more loops to ride with out seeing the same trail.  I rode this week to Ash River by lake and land and the conditions are really nice.  The higher temps have not hurt our trails at all, and we are expected to get some fresh snow tonight and tomorrow.

About 2 more inches of snow since my last post.  A good number of riders all raving about the condition of the trails.  Lakes continue to be slushy, but colder weather should freeze it down a bit.  Groomers running now a couple of times a week and will keep that schedule. Wish you were here to ring in the new year!!

WOW!!!!  Took my family out on Christmas Day for a nice 150 mile ride.  The trails were truly amazing!!  The snow is hanging on the pines and is making for some great winter photos.

We got another foot or so of snow over the past 5 days, and it is snowing again currently. Although the lakes are still a bit slushy there are hundreds of miles of groomed woods trails connected from Virginia all the way to I-Falls.  The base on the trial is really building.  The groomer went out again South this morning and will travel North tonight.  Area resorts are now open and are ready and willing to serve your needs.
