The winter holiday season is a great time to head outdoors in Crane Lake, MN for some casual hiking and snowshoeing.  Start a new holiday tradition by hitting the trails with your family and friends

Grab your snowshoes, cross country skis, or a fishing pole (and ice auger) and head out!

If you are planning a trip to Voyageurs this winter and want a more relaxing mode of transportation than a snowmobile, give your own two feet a try. The Rainy Lake Visitor Center has snowshoes and cross country skis on loan for free during regular visitor hours. They also have a sledding hill and other winter activities scheduled throughout the season!

Winter in Crane Lake is quiet. Really quiet. Especially this time of year when there aren’t too many snowmobiles out on the trails yet. There may not be quite enough snow for the riders yet but there is plenty to enjoy other winter activities. If you can’t come see us in the Northwoods, check out your local state parks and trails and get out there one way or another!

Plan your visit to Crane Lake, snuggle up with a book and ask the locals where to find the trailhead! Be aware, you might be breaking trail so hiking poles and a water bottle are a good idea.
