At the entrance to Voyageurs National Park lies a small town at the end of the road – Crane Lake, MN. If you’re looking for a place to decompress, spend time with family, and enjoy the outdoors, this is certainly a place worth visiting. The area offers endless opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts – fishing, hiking, canoeing, and ATV riding are among the fan favorites. If you plan to visit, you’ll likely want to stay. Fortunately, Crane Lake has a wide array of resorts, motels, and campgrounds for a visitor to call home while in the area.

 

Cabins on Crane

Cabins on Crane is located in the Southwest corner of Crane Lake. The offers both cabin rentals and a RV park.

The resort has 11 cabins  – farmhouse, modern, log, and rustic – with a maximum capacity ranging from six to fourteen. All cabins include fully equipped kitchens, gas grills, satellite TV, internet, private parking and docks, and linens/bedding. They also advertise stunning lake views with each rental.

Their recently added RV park features 10 sites. The RV sites includes sewer and water hookup, electric service, and overflow parking.

Cabins on Crane also has a fish cleaning house and access to local ATV trails. The resort offers to different boat rental options for daily or weekly rentals.

Handberg’s Marina

Handberg’s Marina has graced the shores of Crane Lake since 1926. They are a full-service marina located in the Southeast corner of the lake – featuring marine sales and service, boat storage and rentals, and a general store with groceries, ice cream, clothing, fishing licenses, and any other last minute needs.

In terms of lodging, Handberg’s has a number of RV sites available for rent – including both Short Term and Seasonal sites.

The 10 Seasonal sites are available from May 1st through October 15th and include electric service, water, sewer, and a dock slip. Electricity usage fees are the responsibility of the lessee.

The Short-Term sites are classified as the Lake View RV Site and the Pines RV Site. Both sites offer electricity and water service, a picnic table, and a dock.

Scott’s Peaceful Valley Resort

Scott’s Peaceful Valley Resort is located in the Southwest corner of Crane Lake. The family-oriented resort was founded in 1941. Scott’s offers plenty of activities at the resort including volleyball, tetherball, basketball, badminton, shuffleboard, as well as a playground, sandbox, and beach area.

The resort features six different cabins with maximum occupancies from four to eight people. All cabins are completely furnished with a full kitchen, living room, bathrooms, charcoal grill, an outdoor picnic table, and covered deck. Cooking utensils, bed linens, and towels are also supplied.

Other resort amenities include high-speed internet, a fish cleaning facility, and a place to charge and moor a boat during your stay.

Pine Point Lodge, Resort & Motel

Pine Point Lodge, Resort & Motel is located on the West side of Crane Lake. Pine Point provides a unique experience, even for Crane Lake – the resort and lodge are accessible only via boat. Parking and pontoon shuttles are included with each reservation.

The Resort offers nine cottages with maximum occupancies of five to eight people – each of which are located in close proximity to the water’s edge. Each cottage includes full kitchens, bathrooms, and large decks with grills. All utensils and linens are provided. Visitors can take advantage of the playground area, beach area, and paddleboats & canoes.

Pine Point also has a private three bedroom lake home for rent. It includes all the same amenities as the cottages – but away from the main portion of the resort.

Beyond cottage and home rentals, the resort features motel rooms at their drive to location on Gold Coast Road. These include one and two room units, a dock slip, and charcoal grill.

The resort features boat rentals, fishing licenses, wireless internet, and a fish cleaning house, and complimentary fish cleaning services.

Pine Ridge Motel

Pine Ridge Motel is located less than two miles South of Crane Lake. They offer both motel room rentals and a cabin rental.

All motel rooms include two beds, one bath, mini fridge, satellite TV, microwave, coffee maker, air conditioning and wireless internet.

The cabin rental accommodates up to six people. It includes three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room and fully furnished kitchen. Other amenities include a gas grill and washer/dryer.

Pets are allowed at the motel for an additional fee.

Scott’s Resort and Seaplane Base

Scott’s Resort and Seaplane Base has resided in the Southwest portion of Crane Lake since the 1940s. The seaplane base has grown to be the most popular in the Midwest and offers fueling and plenty of parking along their seaplane dock.

Scott’s Resort has three cabins for rent that accommodate up to five or six people. Each cabin includes fully furnished kitchens, lake view decks, fire pits, grills, and dock slips. The cabins have access to on-site sand beaches as well.

The resort also has a fleet of boats and pontoons available for rent.

The Crane Lake Bar and Grill also calls Scott’s home – making it a convenient place to grab some food or appetizers during your stay.

The Main Lodge offers groceries, clothing, gifts & souvenirs, as well as any other needed convenience items.

Nelson’s Resort

Since 1931, Nelson’s Resort has called an area in the Southeast corner of Crane Lake home. The resort offers plenty to do including a private beach, on-site sauna, playground, game room, volleyball, and hiking trails. An on-site dining lodge offers breakfast, lunch, and dinners – most of which are included with a vacation package.

Nelson’s has 27 cabins – including both one bedroom and two bedroom options. Each cabin has its own set of amenities and features depending on what you’re looking for. If more amenities are what you’re after some of the cabins include full kitchens, decks, fireplaces. If rustic is more your style, Nelson’s has those options as well.

Nelson’s offers a variety of all-inclusive packages for any visitor type, that include lodging & meals. Fishing packages are also available if that’s more your style.

Voyagaire Lodge

Voyagaire Lodge is located in the Southwest corner of Crane Lake for over five decades. The Lodge is a recent addition to the property and features a full-service bar and restaurant.

Voyagaire Lodge is most famously known for its houseboat rentals – which is the largest fleet in Voyageurs National Park. The houseboats provide a unique way to explore and stay in the Crane Lake area. Voyagaire’s houseboats accommodate a wide range of visitors. All houseboats come standard with a wide variety of amenities, including a fully furnished kitchen (refrigerator/freezer & stove) & utensils, deck tables & chairs, gas grills, linens, running water, and showers. All rentals include necessary safety equipment – like life jackets and fire extinguishers – as well as everything necessary for boating.

Voyagaire Lodge also offers a wide variety of boat and pontoon rentals to enhance the experience.

While it focuses on houseboat rentals, Voyagaire Lodge also offers 14 guest rooms that accommodate from two to four people. Each room features a private bath, TV, microwave, mini fridge, and coffee maker. Some of the rooms also include full kitchens and private decks.

Trail’s End Resort and Campground

Trail’s End Resort and Campground is located on the shores of Echo Lake – which is just a short drive from Crane Lake itself. The resort has an on-site bar & restaurant with plenty of food and beverages.

Trail’s End offers cabins, lodge rooms, and camping options.

The ten cabins can accommodate maximum occupancies of two to eleven people. All cabins are completely furnished and feature full kitchens, with all utensils, and a large deck or enclosed porch.

The Lodge Rooms offer basic accommodations for one to three people – best of all they provide easy access to the bar & restaurant.

Beyond the cabins and rooms, Trail’s End also offers a campground with a variety of accommodations. Full-service sites include water, electric, and sewer service, while partial sites include just water and electric. The resort also offers tent sites if that’s more your style. The campground also includes bathroom and shower facilities.

While at the resort, enjoy access to the hiking trail, swimming beach, and playground. Other on-site amenities include high-speed internet, laundry facilities, and boat and pontoon rentals.

Zup’s Resort

Zup’s Resort has resided on nearby Lac La Croix for more than 80 years. The resort requires access via boat or floatplane. Zup’s operates a boat shuttle service to the resort through Scott’s Marina on Crane Lake. The resort bills themselves a fishing resort and truly caters to fishermen.

Zup’s features a large main lodge which houses the dining room, lounge, office, and trading post. The area surrounding the lodge includes nine cottages which can accommodate from two to 16 people. The cottages are modern and furnished with a wide variety of amenities.  Zup’s also has the Wilkins Bay Cottage, which is a secluded two miles from the main lodge.

In addition to the cottages, the resort also has a private tent camp on Pine Island. Everything is fully stocked and setup – all you need to do is just show up.

Wildwood Escape on Crane Lake

Wildwood Escape on Crane Lake is located on the south end of Crane Lake. It offers two cabins for weekly rental, that include the use of private dock.

The cabins accommodate a maximum of six to eight people and include a wide range of amenities. Full kitchens, high speed internet, satellite TV, washer/dryer, and all linens and dishes are included for both cabins. Other features, depending on the cabin, include a fireplace, sauna, and jacuzzi.

Norway Lodge Resort and RV Park

Norway Lodge also calls the Southwest corner of Crane Lake home.

Norway has three different lodging options that accommodate a maximum of three to ten or people, so they have for both small and large groups.  All options include a gas grill, satellite TV, and wireless internet. The larger options, like the Lake Home, include a full kitchen and screened in porch. Linens are provided for all lodging options.

The popular RV sites at Norway Lodge are also a great place to stay. The sites can accommodate groups of all sizes and types. Electricity, water, sewer, and dock slips are among the amenities included with a RV site rental.

The resort also offers boat and pontoon rentals – which can be rented either daily or weekly.
