Vermilion Gorge Trail – Trip Advisor Reviews
These Trip Advisor reviews are helpful If you are considering a hike on the Vermilion Gorge Trail. The trailhead is located across from the Voyagaire Lodge.
Not to be confused with Vermilion Falls
If you are on or near crane lake this is a must see. Come prepared and you can hike up and around the gorge. The trails are well marked and can be as long or short as you choose. Pick a nice day.
Great hike along the Vermilion River. it is a medium hike with some gains and losses in elevation. Worth the trip to see the gorge.
We enjoyed this up/down trail leading to the Vermillion Gorge. Round trip, this hike is roughly three miles and has several places to stop and learn about the surrounding area. Of course, the objective is to get to the gorge, which you can hear long before you arrive. The Vermillion River rushes through the rocky cliffs and dumps into Crane Lake. While the cliff sides aren’t huge, it’s always amazing to think the water carved through rock to make it all happen.
We parked at Voyagaire Lodge and asked one of the staff members there how to get to the trailhead. He was super helpful pointing it out to us.
Other than having a hard time finding the trailhead (it’s on the west side of a houseboat parking lot) this was a great hike for the whole family. We did it in just over an hour and we all enjoyed it very much. Our girls are 10,10 and 8 and they all handled it with ease
Fantastic view – waterfall, scenic lake. Easy walk from the parking lot. Worth the trip. Nice viewing platform.
Walked to the gorge from the boat dock. Fairly easy walk. Lots of water was rushing thru the gorge. We were there fishing and this broke up the day a little. Very good to experience this. Have never seen anything quite like it.
