Jerry Pohlman, owner and guide from Nelson’s Resort, reported on his fishing day. His guest, John, caught and released, not one, but two 28" walleyes. Very nice fish!! The group also caught many others walleyes and northern and returned to the resort with their limit of 15” to 17" walleyes.
Bruce Beste, owner of Cabins on Crane, reported that Greg, Tyler, and Angie from Minneapolis and Cloquet caught walleyes on crawlers and spinners trolling in 14 to 17 feet of water. Greg caught and released this 4 lb Lake Trout on Mukooda on an orange spoon. Tyler caught this 2 ½ b Smallmouth Bass using a #7 crawdad shad rap.
Another guest, Josh, who’s family is from Walker caught several walleyes trolling spinners in the current areas. Many of the walleye were in the 12” to 13” size, a couple keepers 14” to 16”, and two releases 20” and 21”.
Lakeview Motel guests, Ken and Randy, had fantastic fishing this past week using plastic worms. Their largest bass was 21". They estimate that they released around 45 bass and a few pike in the mix as well.Walleye Worley, staying at Pine Point Lodge, Resort and Motel, was trolling with shad raps as close to the weeds as possible and caught 10 keeper walleyes within an hour. Brandon, Walleye Worley’s son in law caught a 32" northern using a shad rap, plus this whopper bass. Their group caught an additional 50 plus small mouth bass with slip bobbers, leeches and worms in moving current.
