July 18, 2015 – Fishing Report

A local fishing guide tells us that he just came in off the far reaches of Namakan, Sandpoint and Crane Lakes on July 18th.

Walleye fishing today was rated a medium on a scale of 1 to 10 that?s about a 5

They caught fish in 20 to 28 feet of water; the larger walleyes came in the shallower range at about 20 feet. Those were on caught on chartreuse jig heads, ? oz., with just a little piece of nightcrawler. Deeper fish tended to be a little smaller, we picked those up on both crawlers and minnows.

It seemed the deeper we went the smaller they got. Once we got below 30 feet of water we caught sauger, cousin to the walleye

When fishing in the Crane Lake area you can keep 4 walleye under 17 inches, one over 28 inches, and you can also keep 2 sauger for a total daily possession limit of 6.

So that's the walleye fishing report for today

It's nice to see all the anglers out looking for Eagles, Loons, and enjoying the sunshine.

It's a great time of year to be in Crane Lake .
