Jim Janssen, owner of Voyagaire Lodge and Houseboats reported good action actually in the shallows on the edge of weed beds.
While staying at Pine Point Lodge, Resort and Motel, Aaron, from Elmhurst, IL was reported as the best dad ever! He put his daughter, Sophie on this 20 ¾” small mouth bass which was the winning fish in the weekly catch and release contest at Pine Point Lodge. Sophie's brother, Justin, is in the photo too. He and his family had spectacular fishing all week. Walleyes were noted on rock piles using bottom bouncers and crawler hauler hooks in about 16’ -19’ of water.
A few of the pike fishermen said they are beginning to raise a few of the big guys while top water fishing. Mike, from Allison, IA, landed and released this 36" pike while using a Jitterbug.
Bruce Beste, owner of Cabins on Crane, reported that Jerry and Cindi from Duluth caught a limit of walleyes fishing with night crawlers on Thursday evening. They fished in front of some small sandy beaches.
Other guests, Pat and Ken from Waterloo, Iowa had tremendous fishing last week. They reported releasing 100 + bass over a couple days fishing leeches in the rock areas of Sand Point Lake. During one outing they caught five smallmouth bass totaling 96”. This catch would win many fishing competitions. Pat and Ken also found a limit of walleyes in some deep holes along rocky areas.
Similarly, Nick and Bob from Minneapolis caught a limit of walleyes on spinner and crawler, and on bare hook and crawler. They fished between 16 and 23 feet of water Tuesday evening.
